Asturias (officially the Principality of Asturias) is an autonomous community located in northern Spain, bordering the Cantabrian Sea. It is famous for its incredibly green landscapes, its imposing mountains, and its rugged coastline, which has earned it the nickname "Natural Paradise." It has a strong cultural and historical identity (it was the cradle of the Reconquista), spectacular cuisine, and a mild, rainy climate that sustains its lush nature. You can't leave Asturias without trying fabada asturiana (Asturian bean stew), cachopo (breaded and fried veal or pork cutlet), its more than 40 varieties of cheese (such as Cabrales), and, of course, its national drink: cider, which is traditionally poured from a height.
